CPP Condoles Efenji’s Family

The Citizens Popular Party (CPP) received with shock and sadness the news of the dastardly murder of AIT reporter Efenji Efenji on Valentine’s Day. It is outrageous. We condemn in strong terms this heinous crime against humanity.

The gruesome murder of Efenji in the presence of his lovely family while relaxing at a recreation park in Abuja on Valentine’s Day is not only despicable but shows how lives could be easily snuffed out in Nigeria without provocation or conflict.

We call on the Inspector General of Police to investigate this savage, cruel and sadistic action that has assaulted our collective sensibility with a view to arresting and prosecuting the assailants of this promising journalist.

We commiserate with the family of the late Efenji and pray that God Almighty will console and comfort them in this trying period. We also condole the Nigeria Union of Journalists and AIT over the killing of their member and staff respectively.

There is no doubt that the senseless murder of Efenji is a big blow to the Journalism profession that has lost prominent members in recent times. We urge Journalists to remain focused and discharge their constitutional duties without fear. The nation appreciates the noble roles of Journalists in building a strong democratic nation.
